INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Green Bay men's basketball team went into halftime tied with IUPUI 29-29 but took control in the second half en route to a 68-58 win over the Jaguars on the road Wednesday afternoon.
The Phoenix (10-8, 5-2) had three players score in double figures, led by David Douglas Jr., who blew past his previous career-high of 15 points, finishing the day with 26. Douglas was efficient on the day, shooting 8-for-12 from the field and 6-of-10 from three. Noah Reynolds added 19 points and six assists, and Elijah Jones had his third double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
IUPUI was led by Vincent Brady II, who finished with 15 points and three rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
IUPUI started the game on the front foot, jumping out to a 22-10 lead in the game's first ten minutes. The Phoenix would do well to respond, going on a 14-2 run to tie the game at 24 all with 5:57 left in the half. The two teams traded baskets the remainder of the way and entered halftime tied 29-29.
Green Bay maintained momentum after intermission, starting the half with a 14-6 run capped off by a Jones three pointer to give them a 43-35 advantage with 14:56 to go in the game. IUPUI battled, but GB's stingy defense and timely buckets prevented the Jaguars from ever getting the Phoenix lead lower than five. The Phoenix cruised to victory down the stretch, 68-58.
