Irene Murua is UDM's top player, leading the Titans in points per game (12.3 PPG), rebounds (8.2 RPG), and minutes (32.0 MPG). ABOUT THE GOLDEN GRIZZLIES
Oakland is in the middle of a four-game homestand, having beaten Detroit Mercy last Saturday. The Golden Grizzlies will host Milwaukee tomorrow night before battling the Phoenix on Saturday. Oakland concludes its homestand next Thursday against Cleveland State. The Golden Grizzlies enter Thursday's matchup against Milwaukee with a 7-8 record. Head Coach Jeff Tungate has tallied a 137-173 record and is in his 11th season as a HC. Three Golden Grizzlies average double figures, including Brooke Quarles-Daniels (12.1 PPG), Markyia McCormick (11.9 PPG), and Linda van Schaik (10.1 PPG).
KEVIN!
Head Coach
Kevin Borseth is once again on the brinks of another historic career milestone. After earning his 800th career win on December 13, he is four wins away from collecting his 500th win as the Head Coach of the Phoenix. KB is also just 17 victories from tallying his 600th win as a Division I Head Coach. The legendary HC is currently on track to get his 500th win with the Phoenix on January 28th, when Green Bay is scheduled to host Wright State on Alumni Day.

CASSIE CRASHING THE BOARDS
Junior guard
Cassie Schiltz has been dominant from the field this season, shooting 45.3-percent overall, 40.6-percent from beyond the arc, and 90.6-percent from the charity stripe. Schiltz, who garnered her first Horizon League Player of the Week honor at the beginning of the month, also racked up 11 rebounds in GB's win at Wright State two weeks ago. Last weekend, she was in double-double territory again when she scored six points and grabbed 10 rebounds, marking the second time this season she's reached double-figure rebounding and the third time in her career.
DOING A SUPER(LATIVE) JOB
GB has had unparalleled success during this season, especially during the current nine-game winning streak. Here's a breakdown of the most eye-opening superlatives prior to Thursday night's battle in the Motor City:
- There have been no games that have finished within three points.
- GB is 9-0 versus winning teams.
- The Phoenix is 11-0 when scoring 70+ points.
- Green Bay has recorded a higher field goal percentage than its opponents 14 times, reigning victorious in all 14 contests.
- GB is 13-1 when leading at the half.
- Green Bay is 11-0 when surrendering less than 60 points.
- The Phoenix has held each opponent to less than 50-percent shooting.
SHINING SCHREIBER
Maddy Schreiber has been a big part of Green Bay's early-season success, scoring at least 12 points in 11 of the first 17 contests, including four straight prior to the UIC game a month ago. In those 11 games, GB's record is 9-2. She chipped in with 12 points in the upset win over then No. 23-ranked Washington State, 14 points in the upset victory over then No. 22-ranked Creighton, and poured in a career-high 23 points in the win over Milwaukee on November 30. Schreiber tallied 16 points in the win over Cleveland State a couple weekends ago before tallying 12 points in GB's win over Robert Morris.
TAKING NOTE
When Green Bay wins this season, they dominate. The Phoenix ranks 28th in scoring margin, winning by an average of 18.4 points per game. Green Bay is also 13-1 in games where the final score was decided by 11 or more points. Per the Horizon League's weekly notebook release, GB has not had a game finish within 10 points since the beginning of the team's nine-game win streak, a 64-56 win over UIC. The Phoenix can record its first 10+-game win streak since the program ripped off 13 victories in a row from January 22-March 6, 2023 last season.
BAILEY GETS BUCKETS
Bailey Butler is one of five Phoenix to have recorded 10 or more steals on the squad. She has 40 total steals, an average of 2.4 SPG, which ranks 66th in the country.
Natalie McNeal and
Jasmine Kondrakiewicz are the next-closest to Butler with 16 and 14 steals apiece, respectively. Seven Phoenix have tallied nineor more steals, including all five starters, as well as
Natalie Andersen and
Callie Genke. Butler has also been lethal from the charity stripe, knocking down 27 of her 28 free throw attempts.
NAT ATTACK
Natalie McNeal has been a rebounding machine this season, pacing the squad with 6.3 rebounds per game. The fourth-year player from Germantown, Wisconsin is in her second season as a Phoenix after spending her first two collegiate years with Saint Louis. Her 6.3 RPG is currently on pace for a career-high. Her previous high was 5.3 RPG with the Billikens during the 2021-22 season. McNeal tied her season-high in rebounds with nine last Thursday night against Youngstown State, finishing one rebound shy of her fifth career double-double.
WELCOME TO TITLETOWN
The Phoenix boasts a trio of true freshmen (
Maren Westin,Â
Sophie Lahti, andÂ
Meghan Schultz) and one transfer (
Natalie Andersen, IUPUI). Westin and Andersen are guards, while Lahti and Schultz bring height to the forward position. Schultz stands at six feet, four inches, surpassingÂ
Kendall Renard as the tallest player on the team. The Phoenix once again boast a roster of mostly homegrown talent. Of the 13 players on the roster, 10 are from the dairyland. Only Westin (Becker, Minn.), Lahti (Pine City, Minn.), andÂ
Jenna Guyer (Circle Pines, Minn.) are not from Wisconsin.
