INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Jasmine Kondrakiewicz and Maddy Schreiber delivered big nights to help the Green Bay women's basketball team get back in the win column Wednesday night with an 87-59 victory over IUPUI.
Kondrakiewicz led the charge by tallying a new career-high in points (21) while recording a new season-high in rebounds (12), finishing just two boards shy of her career-high. Her double-double was the fourth of her career and the first since February 25, 2023. Schreiber also notched her first career double-double (13 pts., 11 rebs.) to help the Phoenix improve to 16-4 overall and 9-1 in Horizon League play. Green Bay has yet to lose back-to-back games this season.
The Jaguars (4-14, 2-7 HL) was paced by Tahlia Walton, who led all scorers with 22 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
IUPUI jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead before Schreiber began her night with a layup with 8:30 to go in the opening frame. Her score began an 11-0 spurt for Green Bay, with the run capped by a mid-range shot from Bailey Butler. GB was relentless on offense, finishing the first quarter with a commanding 32-10 lead, recording the most points Green Bay has scored in any quarter this season. The Phoenix led by no fewer than 19 in the second quarter and cruised into the break with a 53-33 lead. Schreiber tallied seven of GB's 21 second quarter points.
Green Bay cooled off mightily out of intermission, shooting just 4-of-19 from the field. Despite that, the Phoenix defense stifled IUPUI to 3-for-11 shooting and four turnovers, holding a 19-point advantage through three quarters. GB put the foot on the gas in the final frame, ballooning the lead to 31 at 84-54 with 3:42 remaining in the game after a Jenna Guyer and-one. The Phoenix tied for its third-highest scoring total in the 87-59 win over IUPUI.
