Reynolds and Douglas Jr. Lead Green Bay Past Detroit Mercy, 78-64

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Noah Reynolds and David Douglas Jr. put on a show at the Resch Center Saturday afternoon, combining for 58 of Green Bay's 78 points in a 78-64 win over Detroit Mercy. Reynolds dropped 34 points, his second-highest total of the year, while the freshman Douglas racked up 22, which was also his second-highest total of the year.
 
Foster Wonders came close to recording his first career double-double, chipping in with nine points and nine rebounds off the bench for the Phoenix (14-9, 9-3 HL).
 
The Titans (0-22, 0-11 HL) had four players in double figures, paced by Jayden Stone's 20 points. Marcus Tankersley added another 17 points.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Detroit Mercy came to play, building an early lead and sustaining it until 29-25 with 2:11 to go in the first half. The Phoenix was quiet offensively for most of the period but got it going in the final two minutes, finishing on a 9-0 run to take a 34-29 lead into the break. Green Bay did most of its first-half damage in the paint, scoring 20 of its 34 points close to the basket.
 
Detroit Mercy wouldn't go away and proceeded to take a 45-43 lead before Green Bay went on another 9-0 run, finished off by one of Douglas' six second-half threes, to seize a 52-45 lead with 11:22 to go in the contest. Reynolds and Douglas took turns down the stretch and buried the Titans en route to the 78-64 win. 20 of Douglas' 22 points came in the second half.
 

 
GAME NOTES
» Green Bay's bench came alive by totaling 38 points, compared to just two points for the Titans bench.
» GB had a 36-29 edge on the boards in the win.
» Green Bay got a game-high nine rebounds from Wonders.
» Reynolds has scored 30+ points five times this season.
» Today was the second time this season Douglas has scored 20+ points.
» GB outscored Detroit 36-24 in the paint.
» GB maintains their first place spot in the HL standings, moving to 9-3 in league play.
