INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the third straight week, a Green Bay men's basketball freshman was named the Under Armour Horizon League Freshman of the Week. David Douglas Jr. earned the honor Monday afternoon for the third time this season after a noteworthy weekend at the Resch Center.
After battling back from injury,
David Douglas Jr. was back in action for Green Bay, and he did not disappoint. In a weekend where GB went 2-0 and grabbed the top spot in the Horizon League, Douglas averaged 11.0 points on 70.0 percent shooting from the floor. Douglas eased his way back on Thursday with just five minutes played but played 25 minutes Saturday and scored 22 points against Detroit Mercy. The Yorkville, Ill. native hit six threes in the second half against the Titans and combined with
Noah Reynolds to account for 56 of Green Bay's 78 points. Douglas has now hit six threes two times this year, the most by any freshman in the league.
The Phoenix closes out their homestand this Thursday when they host IUPUI on Education Day at 11 a.m. at the Resch Center.
