Twice as Nice: Album Notches Brace as Green Bay Downs IU Indy

Both goals came late in the second half; Phoenix is currently tied for No. 2 seed

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Clutch Chris! Chris Album came through in the later stages of a thrilling 2-0 win over the IU Indy Jaguars Saturday afternoon in Green Bay.

Album scored in the 81st minute and again for good measure in the 84th to lead the Phoenix to victory. GB improved to 10-5-1 overall and 4-2-1 in conference play, while IU Indy dropped to 5-7-3 overall and 2-4-1 in HL action.

Green Bay has now reached 10+ overall wins in consecutive years, the first time since the 2010-11 campaigns the program has accomplished such a feat. The Green and White has also won three in a row over the Jaguars.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GB had everything going its way from the get-go, rattling off five shots in the first 25 minutes. Andrew Paolucci and Album both had shots on goal, but the latter missed wide while the former force a save by Jaguars keeper Mason Taylor. Green Bay kept attacking, with Paolucci forcing another Taylor save. Despite outshooting IU Indy 8-0 in the opening frame, it remained a scoreless draw at intermission.

The Phoenix kept the foot on the gas in the second half, blasting six shots within the first 18 minutes. Still looking for its first goal in nearly four games, Green Bay controlled the ball in the 81st minute after So Nishikawa took it away from the Jaguars. He went up the sideline before lofting in a pass that found a cutting Album, who tapped it in to give GB a late 1-0 lead. After the ensuing kickoff, Matisse Chretien passed the ball ahead to Myles Sophanavong, who flipped the field with a pass that found Album near the box. Album dribbled the ball before knifing his way past two Jaguars and sneaking a shot past the outstretched arms of Taylor. Album's third career multi-goal game, and second this season, propelled Green Bay to a 2-0 victory over IU Indy.

GAME NOTES
  • Album led all players with five shots, while three Phoenix had four or more shots.
  • GB goalkeeper Alvaro Rodriguez posted his second clean sheet of the season.
  • Green Bay had nine corner kicks to IU Indy's one.

FASTEN YOUR SEATBELTS
