INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Horizon League unveiled the 2024 #HLVB awards on Thursday. Awards were voted on by the League's head coaches.
Katie Schulz was named All-League First Team,
Calli Gentry was named All-League Second Team, and
Diane Pichelman made the All-Horizon League Freshman Team.
Green Bay finished as the No. 4 seed in the Horizon League, going 14-16 overall and an 11-7 HL record. The Phoenix will take on the No. 5 seeded Purdue Fort Wayne in the Horizon League Quarterfinals on Friday, Nov. 22 at 5 p.m. at Wright State.
KATIE SCHULZ – FIRST TEAM ALL-HORIZON LEAGUE
Katie Schulz had a breakout Sophomore season in 2024, leading the Phoenix and finishing sixth in the Horizon League with 365 kills, 3.29 per set. Schulz also led GB with 386.0 points. The Appleton, Wis., native finished fourth on the Phoenix in blocks with 37 on the year.
CALLI GENTRY – SECOND TEAM ALL-HORIZON LEAGUE
Calli Gentry has been outstanding this year collecting 1,047 assists and 9.64 assists per set, the fourth-most in the HL. This year Gentry surpassed the 4,000-career assist mark and is now third all-time in career assists for the Phoenix. Gentry has previously been All-Horizon League First Team and a Sportsmanship Award recipient.
DIANE PICHELMAN –ALL-HORIZON LEAGUE FRESHMAN TEAM
Diane Pichelman is the first Phoenix to be on the All-Freshman Team since
Abby Gardner in 2021. Pichelman has been a contributor from day one and is one of two Phoenix to play in all 115 sets this season. The Madison, Wis., native finished fourth on Green Bay in kills with 200 a team-leading .249 hitting percentage (min. 100 attacks). The Freshman Middle Blocker led the Phoenix with 77 blocks on the season.
