Green Bay Comes Up Short In Home Opener Against St. Thomas

GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Green Bay men's basketball team came up short in their home opener Friday night, as the Phoenix fell to St. Thomas 90-76 at the Kress Center.
Anthony Roy continues to impress, pouring in 24 points on 9-for-13 shooting. Marcus Hall helped out with 17 points and C.J. O'Hara tallied his first collegiate buckets, scoring 10 points in 22 minutes off the bench.

Miles Barnstable was at the head of the St. Thomas offense, scoring 23 points on 6-of-11 from the floor. Kendall Blue also finished with 17 points. The Tommies were efficient on the night, shooting 60.4-percent from the floor and 44.4-percent from three.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Both teams traded buckets to start before the Tommies went on an 11-2 run that culminated in a Blue layup with 13:03 left in the first to give UST a 22-13 lead. That lead was maintained for much of the half and eventually extended to 19 before the frame was over. St. Thomas led 54-35 after shooting 20-for-33 from the floor in the half.

The Tommies stayed hot to start the second half, growing their lead to as much as 24 points at 59-35. However, the Phoenix wouldn't go down without a fight. Trailing 70-50, GB went on a 17-6 run thanks to some big plays off the bench from O'Hara to cut the St. Thomas lead to single digits at 76-67 with just under five minutes in the ball game. UST had a response, finishing the game outscoring the Green & White 14-9 to win it 90-76.
