INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After taking down IU Indy 3-1 on Friday night, the Green Bay volleyball team fell to the Jaguars on Saturday afternoon, 3-1. Green Bay won the first set 25-14, but dropped sets two through four.
The Phoenix is now 12-16 on the season and 9-7 in the Horizon League. Currently, Green Bay sits in fourth in the HL, and can clinch a HL tournament spot with a win next weekend against Robert Morris.
Danilynn Schell and Katie Schulz both had strong days offensively, leading GB with 15 kills apiece. Schell also had four blocks to lead the Phoenix defense. Calli Gentry finished the day with 39 assists and nine digs.
Morgan Ostrowski led IU Indy offensively with 16 kills while Briana Brown finished with 10.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 | The Phoenix started out ahead 6-1 and never looked back, winning the first set in dominant fashion, 25-14. The GB defense was the key, as it held the Jags offense to nine kills on a .000 hitting percentage while blocking four IU Indy attacks.
SET 2 | Green Bay lost the second set 25-23 to even the match 1-1. The second set was back-and-forth the whole way, featuring four lead changes and 10 ties. Neither team led by more than four points the entire way, but the Jaguars took four of the last five points to win 25-23.
SET 3 | IU Indy took set three 25-22 after a key 5-0 that took the score from 17-15 Green Bay to 20-17 IU Indy. That lead was never relinquished and the hosts took a 2-1 set lead.
SET 4 | Both teams came to play in the fourth set, with the Phoenix hitting .400 and IU Indy hitting .394. The Jaguars still came out on top however, 25-20.

» Calli Gentry had a team-high four aces in the loss.

COMING UP
Green Bay will close out the regular season next weekend when they host Robert Morris for a two-game set on Friday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 16 at 1 p.m. If the Phoenix were to clinch a top six spot in the Horizon League at the conclusion of the weekend, they'll play an HL quarterfinal game on Friday, Nov. 22.
