Jeremiah Johnson led the Phoenix and secured a double-double with a career-high 21 points and 15 rebounds, while Marcus Hall added 17 points, and a season-best outing from Ryan Wade, who was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field and tallied 11 points. Mac Wrecke chipped in with 10 points, eight rebounds and two blocks.

Green Bay did most of its first-half damage in the paint, scoring 18 of its 33 from inside.

Michigan Tech proceeded to take a 55-54 lead before Green Bay went on a 5-0 run, finished off by Johnson's layup, to seize a 59-55 lead with 6:27 to go in the contest. Michigan Tech re-asserted control, outscoring the Phoenix 17-11 the rest of the way. The two teams were tied at 65 until a Tomashek three gave MTU a three-point lead with 53 seconds to go. That lead held the rest of the way as they took the game by a score of 72-70.
