GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Green Bay women's basketball team ended 2024 on a high note with a 72-39 win over Parkside.
The Phoenix (9-5, 2-1 HL) had four players score in double figures, led by Jenna Guyer, who had a career-high 18 points. Callie Genke added 12 points, Cassie Schiltz chipped in with 11 points and six assists, and Jasmine Kondrakiewicz had 10 points.
Parkside (6-4, 1-1 GLIAC) got a team-high 10 points from Cassidy Arni and Kendal Zeiter.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Parkside started nearly bucket-for-bucket with Green Bay, but consecutive threes from Guyer and Schiltz opened GB's lead to eight at 17-9 with 5:26 left in the first quarter. Kondrakiewicz scored the last six points of the frame for the Phoenix, and GB took a 25-14 advantage into the second quarter. The Phoenix had solid defense in the second stanza, holding the Rangers to nine points on 3-of-10 shooting. Guyer had five points in the frame, helping guide the Phoenix to a 41-23 lead at the break.
Green Bay was on cruise control in the second half. The Phoenix led by at least 20 for the final 14:38 of the contest and by at least 30 for the final 6:53. Parkside scored just two points in the fourth quarter, and Green Bay secured its second-straight victory with a 72-39 win.
