MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. -Â The Green Bay women's basketball team survived a sluggish game against the Robert Morris Colonials, pulling away late for a 60-50 victory.
Green Bay (20-5, 13-2) was paced by Cassie Schiltz, who had 14 points. Jenna Guyer gave the Phoenix a huge boost off the bench, adding 13 points in just 15 minutes on 5-of-6 shooting. GB reached 20 wins for the 34th time in program history and for the second time in the last five seasons.
RMU (6-19, 2-14) was led by Madison O'Dell, who tallied 14 points in 13 minutes off the bench.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Both squads had a slow start in the first half, with the Phoenix holding a narrow six-point lead at intermission. Green Bay shot well in the first quarter (6-of-12), but went cold in the second stanza to go 3-of-15. There were just 14 combined points scored in the second quarter, and neither team shot higher than 33 percent in the half.
Things picked up after the break when Guyer sparked a run at the end of the third frame. She converted a pair of free throws before Maddy Schreiber added two more from the charity stripe. Not long before the third-quarter buzzer, Guyer buried a triple to give GB a 38-37 advantage. Bailey Butler made a trey with 7:09 remaining before Schiltz cashed in a three, extending the lead to seven. In the final 4:12, Green Bay made a dozen free throws, icing the game for the 60-50 win.
