MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Green Bay men's basketball team fell to the Milwaukee Panthers Saturday afternoon, 90-69. The Panthers outscored the Phoenix 44-21 in the second half to secure the season split.
Green Bay finished the Horizon League slate with a 13-7 HL record, good for the league's third seed.
GB (18-13, 13-7) had three players in double figures, led by David Douglas Jr. and Preston Ruedinger, who each finished with 15 points. Marcus Hall chipped in as well with 10 points and four assists off the bench.
Milwaukee had five players in double figures, led by 22 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists from BJ Freeman. Erik Pratt poured in 15 to lead the MKE bench.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first half was back-and-forth the entire way, with each team grabbing the lead at different points. Milwaukee built their lead to as large as seven when Douglas hit back-to-back threes with just under nine minutes to make it a 33-32 MKE lead. The Phoenix then outscored the Panthers the rest of the way, leading 48-46 heading into the break. GB hit eight threes in the first half and scored the most points in a first half this season.
Milwaukee came out of halftime hot, going on an 8-2 run in the second half's first five minutes to take back the lead at 54-50. The run wouldn't stop there, however, as MKE went on a 23-8 spree to put the game out of reach with just over six minutes left to go. The hosts shot 53.3 percent from the floor in the second half to GB's 26.9 percent.

ON THE HORIZON
The official Horizon League bracket has been finalized. Green Bay is the No. 3 seed and will host the highest remaining seed following the HL first round on Tuesday, March 5. Milwaukee grabbed the No. 6 seed and would travel to Green Bay if they won their contest against No. 11 Detroit Mercy on Tuesday.
