GREEN BAY, Wis. – Liz Oswald has been named Assistant Coach/Director of Operations for the women's basketball team, as announced by Head Coach Kayla Karius. Oswald returns to her home state after spending last season on the bench at South Dakota, serving as the Director of Operations under Karius.

"I'm so excited to have Liz joining us at Green Bay!" said Karius. "She was on my prior staff and from day one impressed me with her work ethic, passion for developing student-athletes, and going above and beyond what is asked. A fellow Wisconsinite, she is familiar with the Phoenix and the tradition of success here. She's going to be a great addition and I look forward to having her on board!".

A native of Watertown, Wisconsin, Oswald spent the 2023-24 season with the Coyotes, helping USD improve in the win column by nine games and increasing defensive efficiency. The Coyotes ended up ranking second in the Summit League in defensive scoring (64.6 PPG). Oswald was also in charge of coordinating all team travel needs and assisting in individual skill workouts. She spent two seasons prior to South Dakota as the Graduate Assistant Coach at Eastern Illinois, learning under the direction of former Phoenix Head Coach Matt Bollant and recently named Assistant Coach Allie Alexander (LeClaire). Her responsibilities with the Panthers included individual skill development workouts, coordinating team travel, organizing on-campus recruiting visits, managing team apparel, breaking down opponent game film, and coordinating all video-related activities for practices, games, and video exchange. Oswald was also the assistant coordinator for Eastern Illinois' annual CARE Game which raised more than $16,000 for local cancer patients.

Oswald served for three summers as the Head Coach for the AAU programs in DeForest and Watertown, Wisconsin. She was also a women's basketball camp counselor at the University of Iowa and the University of Wisconsin in the summers of 2018 and 2019.

In addition to her array of coaching experience, Oswald was a two-time team captain at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Her Head Coach was Hannah Iverson (Quilling), who was a student-athlete on Green Bay's Sweet 16 team in 2011. She graduated from UW-Stout in 2021 with a bachelor's degree in applied science while serving as the UW-Stout SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) President. Additionally, she was a participant in the WBCA's "So You Want to Be a Coach" program. Oswald completed her master's in sports administration from Eastern Illinois in May of 2023.
