GREEN BAY, Wis. – Green Bay volleyball announced the 2024 schedule today. The Phoenix, led by seventh-year Head Coach Abbey Sutherland, is coming off a 16-16 campaign in 2023. GB went 13-5 in Horizon League action and made it to the Horizon League Championship game, the program's first title game appearance since the Green and White won the tournament in 2018. Season tickets are now on sale at GreenBayPhoenix.com, and single game tickets will go on sale on August 1.

The season will kick off with an exhibition match on the road at Loyola Chicago on August 17. Following, the Phoenix will open its preseason with three tournaments before the Capital Credit Union Classic in Green Bay. First, GB will travel to Utah for the Utah Classic from August 30 – Sept. 1, then the Texas Tech Invitational from Sept. 6-7, and finally, the Central Michigan Invitational from Sept. 13-14. Green Bay will play formidable competition across the three tournaments, including Utah, Texas Tech, and FAU.

"Our non-conference schedule is very challenging and will put us in a position to compete at a high level for Horizon League play," Sutherland said. "We are excited to have an awesome team experience when we travel to Utah. Beyond competing, our players are creating lifelong memories on our non-conference road trips."

Green Bay will then host the second annual Capital Credit Union Classic, slated for Sept. 19-21. GB will welcome Chicago State, North Dakota, St. Thomas, and Minnesota to the Kress Center. Green Bay's first home contest is slated for Thursday, September 19 against Minnesota, before the team battles St. Thomas on the 20th and North Dakota on the 21st. Horizon League play will open shortly after the team travels to Youngstown State for a Friday-Saturday doubleheader with the Penguins on Sept. 27-28.

"Our administrative staff has been working hard behind the scenes to sell tickets and provide a top-notch gameday experience for fans," Sutherland continued. "The team has been working very hard since ending our season in 2nd place, and they are determined to compete at a very high level. They deserve a giant crowd behind them when they finally get to play at home on September 19th. We need our Phoenix fans to show up strong for our home opener versus Minnesota!"

GB will follow that match by hosting Purdue Fort Wayne in a pair of weekend contests on the 4th and 5th. The Green and White are 9-7 in 16 matchups against PFW.

The Horizon League season will continue through October and the start of November, before concluding the regular season slate against Robert Morris at the Kress Center on November 15 and 16. The Horizon League Championships will then start play on Thursday, November 21.

Sutherland concluded, "Keep an eye on three experienced leaders who will finish their career this fall:

-Calli Gentry, who will be in her 6th year quarterbacking the team
-Abby Gardner, who has started since her freshman season in 2021
-Cora Behnke, our powerful, inspirational outside hitter"
