MANHATTAN, Kan. - Green Bay women's soccer fell behind early and dropped its Thursday evening contest to Kansas State by a final of 1-6.
The loss dropped Green Bay's record to 0-2-1 overall, while the Wildcats improved to 2-2-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Phoenix delivered the first two shots of the game. Sophie Heyboer missed wide right before Senah Hanes sent a shot wide left in the 9th minute. Green Bay played step-for-step with KSU before the Wildcats rattled off shots in the 17th and 22nd minutes. Not long after Andra Mohler's shot, Ryann Reynolds opened the scoring in the 24th minute off an assist by Jo Sees. Kansas State kept applying pressure, adding goals in the 32nd and 41st minutes. GB was able to tally five shots in the first half and two on goal.
Kansas State opened the floodgates after halftime, scoring three goals in less than five minutes. Ryann Reynolds and Jo Sees each scored, making it 6-0 after Sees' goal in the 64th minute. Green Bay had a bright spot in the 69th minute when freshman Sydney Bollis scored her first career goal.
GAME NOTES
- Green Bay was outshot 20-9 overall and 11-4 on goal.
- Mallorie Benhart had five saves and stopped a penalty kick.
- K-State had four corner kicks to GB's three.
COMING UP
