SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Green Bay volleyball team closed out the Utah Classic on Sunday at the Jon M. Huntsman Center, falling in straight sets (11-25, 12-25, 21-25) to the Utah Utes.
Katie Schulz finished with nine kills on the day to lead the Phoenix attack. The Phoenix got nine digs from Kendall Schara to lead them defensively.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 | The Phoenix fell behind early, losing a tough first set 25-11. Utah jumped out to a 5-1 lead early and never looked back.
SET 2 | A 25-12 second-set loss put Green Bay behind two sets to none in the match. The Utes grabbed the advantage for good at 8-7 after three ties early and built as much as a 14 point lead in the set.
SET 3 | Green Bay made some noise in the third set, taking an 11-6 lead after a pair of kills from Schulz and capitalizing on Utah attack errors. The Utes followed that up with a 6-0 run to take the lead at 12-11. From there, the two teams battled back and forth before the hosts took five of the last six points to complete the sweep with a 25-21 third-set win.
