MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Natalie McNeal and Cassie Schiltz each had a double-double to help the Green Bay women's basketball team cruise past Robert Morris 78-48 on Saturday afternoon.
GB extended its winning streak to six with the victory.
McNeal had a season-high 22 points and a career-high 18 rebounds, while Schiltz had a season-best 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Phoenix (13-5, 6-1). McNeal's double-double was the tenth of her career and eighth with Green Bay. Ellie Buzzelle played a big part in the win, tallying 10 points off the bench, while Miah Meyer and Jenna Guyer each had eight points.
Robert Morris (5-11, 1-6 HL) got 13 points from Micah O'Dell, the only Colonial to reach double figures.
HOW IT HAPPENED
It was a back-and-forth first quarter, but Green Bay started to pull ahead with a layup by Schiltz to make it 14-10 with 3:20 to go before the end of the frame. A three by Guyer punctuated a good opening quarter, with the Phoenix leading 19-13. A Buzzelle layup midway through the second period extended GB's lead to 14 at 21-17 with 3:02 to go before halftime. A pair of free throws by McNeal capped off a strong first half, with GB holding a 32-22 advantage at the break.
The Phoenix put the pedal to the metal in the third stanza. GB shot 8-for-13 (61.5 percent), including 4-of-9 from deep, outscoring the Colonials 24-11 in the quarter. Schiltz had a hot hand from beyond the arc, drilling a three to give GB a 52-24 lead with 5:33 remaining in the third. Green Bay led by as much as 39 points in the fourth quarter and finished with a blowout win, 78-48 on the road over Robert Morris.
