GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Green Bay women's basketball team is set for an epic matchup against the Cleveland State Vikings on Thursday night in Titletown. Tipoff is slated for 6 PM central time.
It'll be a celebratory night at the Kress Center. Over 200 of Green Bay's student-athletes will be recognized during the second quarter for their outstanding achievement in the classroom. At the conclusion of the fall 2024 semester, Green Bay student-athletes posted the

ABOUT THE VIKINGS
Cleveland State is having yet another superb year under head coach Chris Kielsmeier, who took over for
Kate Peterson Abiad beginning with the 2018-2019 season. The Vikings have a 17-4 overall record and come to Green Bay with a four-game winning streak. Mickayla Perdue presents a tall task for the Phoenix, pacing the Vikings with 20.1 points per contest. She also leads CSU in staels (1.6 SPG), while Sara Guerreiro is the team's leader in rebounds (8.1 RPG) and assists (4.6 APG).
Green Bay is 72-11 when matching up against the Vikings, and 34-4 when hosting the Vikings. GB has won 13 of its last 15 home meetings against Cleveland State, dating back to 2010, scoring at least 69 points in 11 of those 15 matchups. The Green and White is looking for consecutive victories over CSU for the first time since the 2022-23 season.
1. THE MONTH OF THE PHOENIX
Green Bay is having a fantastic month of January. GB is looking to polish off an undefeated month, the first perfect January since the 2017-18 season (8-0). The Green and White has also had three different Players of the Week this month: Schiltz, (Jan. 6), McNeal (Jan. 13), and most recently Kondrakiewicz (Jan. 27). GB has had five different weeks this season, featuring four different players, where the program represents the Player of the Week. No other team in the HL has more than two (Cleveland State, Purdue Fort Wayne, Detroit Mercy).
2. KATE AGAINST CLEVELAND
Assistant Coach
Kate Peterson Abiad will face her former team in Cleveland State for the first time this season. Peterson Abiad was the head coach for the Vikings from 2003-2018, amassing a 206-252 record and winning two Horizon League Tournament Championships. She earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from UW-Stevens Point in 1991. Her husband, Phil Abiad, was an assistant coach with the CSU volleyball program for nearly two decades.
3. CAREER-HIGHS FOR KONDRAKIEWICZ
Jasmine Kondrakiewicz leads the team in rebounds, steals, and blocks. Kondrakiewicz has grabbed 152 rebounds, which is tied for 122nd in the nation. 'Jas' became the 40th player in program history to reach 1,000 points in the win over Detroit Mercy on January 16, making a layup with 4:40 remaining in the fourth quarter. She notched her 100th career block on January 2 against Northern Kentucky. Her seven steals against Ripon College in mid-December were a career-high, while also recording her seventh career double-double against Ripon (14 pts., 13 rebs.). GB's win over Wright State on January 4 was the 100th win she's been part of in her career. Last Thursday at Wright State, Jasmine racked up a career-high 31 points, helping the Phoenix win its ninth game in a row. Jasmine also has a career-best 71 offensive rebounds and 39 steals, while boasting a career-high in free throw percentage (76.2).
4. DOUBLE-DOUBLE THE FUN
Natalie McNeal was named the Player of the Week by the Horizon League on January 13, the third time in her Green Bay career to win the award and second time this season. Previously awarded the accolade on November 25, 2024, McNeal dominated against Robert Morris on January 11. She recorded her 8th career double-double – sixth with Green Bay – by posting 22 points (which led all players) and 18 rebounds (also led all players). She recorded her ninth career double-double on Jan. 23rd at Wright State, posting 15 points and 12 rebounds. McNeal needs to make three more field goals to reach 500 in her career. She dropped a career-high 32 points against Cleveland State in the Horizon League Championship Game last March.
5. HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Happy belated birthday to Assistant Coach
Kate Peterson Abiad, who celebrated her big day last Saturday. We wish her well.
