FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Green Bay men's soccer team got a much-needed win on the road at league leaders Purdue Fort Wayne, by a final score of 1-0.
Keegan Walker scored the lone goal of the match off a Phoenix free kick in the 71st minute.
The three points moved Green Bay into a tie for sixth in the league with Detroit Mercy.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Each team had multiple shots on goal early. PFW put some considerable pressure on the Phoenix defense, but goalkeeper
Drew Swancutt was up to the challenge, recording four saves in the first 45 minutes.
Luke Nicholson nearly gave Green Bay the lead in the opening minute of the second half, but PFW's goalkeeper Sep Habiti was there for the decisive save. Swancutt recorded two more saves in the next 15 minutes of action. Walker's goal eventually broke the scoreless tie in the 71st minute, and that goal held the remainder of the way.
