Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Career Day from Schultz Keeps Phoenix Unbeaten

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Another career day for Meghan Schultz helped the Green Bay Women's Basketball team triumph over North Dakota on Tuesday night, 67-43. Schultz finished with 26 points on 11-of-18 shooting to lead the Green Bay offense. The Phoenix moved to 3-0 with the win.

The Phoenix (3-0) had two players score in double figures. Other than Schultz, Carley Duffney tacked on 13 points and four assists.

Green Bay's defense held North Dakota to only 29.2-percent shooting from the field, including 24.0-percent from beyond the arc. The Fighting Hawks did not have much luck cleaning up their misses on the offensive glass either, as they finished with eight offensive rebounds and managed three second-chance points while Green Bay cleared 28 defensive rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After falling behind 3-0, Green Bay went on a 5-0 run with 8:42 left in the first quarter, culminating in a three from Duffney, to take an early 5-3 lead. The two teams battled back and forth in the opening frame, with the visitors eventually grabbing a 15-14 advantage heading into the quarter break.

North Dakota kept adding to that lead, building a 29-25 advantage before Green Bay went on a 10-0 run, highlighted by a bucket from Skorupski, to take a 35-29 lead. The Fighting Hawks cut into that lead slightly, but the Phoenix still enjoyed a 35-30 advantage heading into halftime.

Green Bay wasted no time in continuing to build on its lead, going on a 5-0 run right out of the break, punctuated by a three from Kamy Peppler, to expand its lead further to 40-30 with 9:09 to go in the third. The Phoenix held onto that lead for the rest of the frame and entered the fourth quarter with a 48-38 edge. Green Bay took advantage of seven North Dakota turnovers in the quarter, scoring five points off takeaways.

The fourth quarter was the most dominant for the Green & White, as they outscored North Dakota 19-5 in the frame en route to the 67-43 win. Green Bay took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring 14 of its 19 points in the paint.
