BUFFALO, N.Y. – Caden Wilkins was on fire Thursday night, but the Green Bay Men's Basketball team fell at Buffalo 83-76.
The Phoenix (0-2) had four players score in double figures, led by Wilkins, who had a career-high 22 points, including six of eight shooting from three. Marcus Hall tacked on 16 points and seven assists, and Dontrell Hewlett helped out with 13 points and four assists off the bench.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After falling behind 20-14, Green Bay went on a 5-0 run with 8:47 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Hewlett, to narrow its deficit to 20-19. Buffalo answered back and built a 32-28 lead going into halftime.
Buffalo kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 44-37 advantage before Caden Wilkins made three threes in a row, giving the Phoenix a 46-44 lead with 12:46 to go in the contest. Buffalo reasserted control, going on a 9-2 run, giving itself a 53-48 lead with 9:46 to go. The Bulls expanded its lead to 72-61 with 3:13 to go and saw that lead out to secure the win.
GAME NOTES
» The Phoenix shot well from three-point range, knocking down 11-of-27 long-range attempts.
» Buffalo outrebounded Green Bay 31-27.
» Green Bay got a team-high seven rebounds from C.J. O'Hara.
