Phoenix Closes Out Nonconference Play at Miami (OH)

Oxford, OHIO - The Green Bay women's basketball team looks to rebound after a narrow defeat last Saturday to #20 Washington as they head east to face the Miami RedHawks at 12:00 p.m. CST tomorrow.

ABOUT THE REDHAWKS
Miami is receiving votes in the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 Poll and is led by third-year head coach Glenn Box. The Redhawks are 7-4 on the year. The team is led by four double-figure scorers, with Amber Scalia headlining at 14.4 points per game. Amber Tretter averages 13.5 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. The two other main threats for Miami are Tamar Singer at 11.1 points per game and Ilse De Vries at 10.5 points per game.

LAST TIME OUT
The Green Bay women's basketball team took a 65-56 advantage into the fourth quarter, but could not hang on and fell 79-74 to the Washington Huskies on the road Saturday. The Phoenix (8-4) had four players score in double figures, led by Jenna Guyer, who had 19 points and eight rebounds. Maddy Skorupski added 14 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals, and Meghan Schultz helped out with 13 points. Carley Duffney also finished the day with 13 points.

PROTECT HOME COURT
Green Bay has been strong at home in 2025-26, starting the year 5-0. The Phoenix is 3-2 on the road and 0-2 on a neutral court.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL MIDMAJOR POLL
Green Bay has been in the top five of the CollegeInsider Women's Basketball Top 25 Poll all season long. The Phoenix sits in fifth place as of the latest rankings on December 16.

MEG-NIFICENT MEGHAN
Redshirt-Sophomore Meghan Schultz has had a breakout season, and leads the Phoeinx, scoring 14.3 points and bringing down 5.3 rebounds per game. Schultz has scored in double figures in nine of GB's 12 games.

GREEN BAY GRACIE
Sophomore transfer Gracie Grzesk is on the best stretch of her career, averaging 9.8 points per game in her six appearances. The Green Bay native has reached double-digit scoring in four of those appearances, including a career-high 20-point outing against NC State in the Cancun Challenge earlier this month.

PASSING PEPPLER
Milwaukee transfer and senior guard Kamy Peppler runs the Green Bay offense from the point guard position. Peppler leads the Horizon League, dishing out 5.2 assists per game. Peppler has started all 12 GB games, and is averaging 7.7 points, 5.2 assists, and 4.1 rebounds.

SCORING SKORUPSKI
Former Oakland standout and one of two Horizon League All-League player left in the league from a season ago, Maddy Skorupski, will wear the Green & White in her senior season. Skorupski is third on the team in points per game at 9.6 and second in assists per game, averaging 3.8 (also second in the HL). She leads the Phoenix with 1.9 steals and is second in rebounds at 5.2.

CARLEY COMING HOME
A disciple of Kayla Karius during their time together at South Dakota, the two-time CSC Academic All-District player of Green Bay Preble High School scored her 1,000th career collegiate point in the team's victory over Youngstown State on Dec. 7. Through 12 games, Duffney is averaging 8.4 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. Duffney has scored in double figures in six out of GB's 12 games.

GUYER ON FIRE
Jenna Guyer has made the most of her minutes since returning to the Phoenix lineup. Guyer led Green Bay in scoring throughout the Cancun Challenge, scoring 15 against (RV) NC State last Thursday, and 16 points in 19 minutes against (RV) Richmond on Friday. Guyer is second on the team in scoring, with 12.0 points per game in 26.6 minutes per game. Guyer was named to the Cancun Challenge All-Tournament Team for averaging 15.5 points and 2.5 rebounds across her two games.


WINNING WITH KARIUS
Head Coach Kayla Karius earned her 70th career win in her fourth season as an NCAA Division I head coach with a 76-64 win against New Hampshire on Nov. 13, 2025.

KARIUS ERA
After winning the Horizon League and making the NCAA Tournament in her first season as the Phoenix Head Coach, Kayla Karius will look to do the same in year two with an overhauled roster. Green Bay graduated seven seniors and 85.2% of its scoring from 2024-25. The 2025-26 Phoenix features eight newcomers, consisting of six transfers and two true freshmen. After two seasons as the head coach at South Dakota and her season with the Phoenix, Karius holds an all-time record of 73-40.
