Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Levy's Double-Double Not Enough as Green Bay Falls at Detroit Mercy

DETROIT, Mich. - Yonatan Levy registered a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, but the Green Bay men's basketball team fell to the Detroit Mercy Titans 67-57 on the road Saturday.
 
In addition to Levy's double-double, the Phoenix (2-22, 0-13) were led by Preston Ruedinger, who added 13 points and six rebounds, and by Marcus Hall, who put up 11 points, seven rebounds and two steals.
 
Orlando Lovejoy led the way for the Titans, finishing with 19 points, five steals, four rebounds and four assists. Legend Geeter also had 15 points and seven rebounds.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first half was highly contested, with the two teams playing to a 25 all tie through the game's first 16 minutes. The Titans had the edge in the final four minutes however, outscoring the Phoenix 8-3 to take a 33-28 lead heading into the half. Detroit held an eight-point lead before Ruedinger drained a three with three seconds left in the half to cut it to five. Ruedinger led the Phoenix with 11 in the half on 3-of-4 shooting from three.
 
Detroit Mercy kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 53-41 advantage before Green Bay responded with an 8-0 run, finished off by Levy's three, to shrink the deficit to 53-49 with 7:25 to go. That was as close as GB got however, as the Titans responded and ended the game outscoring Green Bay 14-8 to close out a 67-57 win.
 
GAME NOTES
» Levy's double-double was his first of the year.
» UDM shot 13-of-14 from the free throw line.
» Both teams finished the game with 35 rebounds.
» Green Bay struggled from the floor, shooting 38.2 percent from the field and 25.0 percent from three.
 
UP NEXT
Green Bay has a single game this week, traveling to Purdue Fort Wayne on Saturday, Feb. 8 for a 6 p.m. CT game. The following weekend, the Phoenix will host Northern Kentucky on Friday, Feb. 14 at 6 p.m. and Wright State on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m.
