ABOUT THE JAGUARS
IU Indy has struggled for the most part this season but has played its best basketball at home under third-year head coach Kate Bruce. Four of the Jaguars' five wins have come in The Jungle. Katie Davidson, who did not play in the first matchup this season, paces IU Indy at 17.2 points per game. Several other players help stuff the stat sheet, with Faith Stinson leading the way in rebounds (5.3 RPG) and blocks (1.3 BPG). Alexa Hocevar is active on defense, tallying 1.5 steals per contest, and Azyah Newson-Cole is good for a couple of assists per game.
Green Bay is 13-5 all-time against the Jaguars, winning the last six straight, and is 7-3 in the last 10 matchups. The Phoenix won six of the first eight meetings, dating back to 1999. Green Bay is 6-1 when visiting the Jungle, last losing in the Jungle on January 6, 2022, a narrow 49-51 defeat.Â
Maddy Schreiber led all scorers with 16 points in GB's last meeting against the Jaguars, on December 4, 2024. GB held IU Indy to 0-for-13 from the field in the first quarter, holding the Jaguars to just three points (all free throws) en route to the victory.
1. WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE
It's been nearly all fun and games for the Phoenix when visiting the Jaguars at The Jungle in downtown Indianapolis, winning six of its seven matchups there. GB has won its last two trips to The Jungle, scoring over 80 points in each contest. Green Bay averages just shy of 67 points per game in The Jungle, while stifling the Jaguars for just 55.3 points per game. GB has stymied the Jags for fewer than 60 points in five of its seven visits to The Jungle.
2. STARTING THE NEW YEAR STRONG
Green Bay polished off an undefeated month of January (9-0), the first perfect January since the 2017-18 season (8-0). GB won nine games between November and December combined. The Green and White also had three different Players of the Week this past month: Schiltz, (Jan. 6), McNeal (Jan. 13), and most recently Kondrakiewicz (Jan. 27). GB has had five different weeks this season, featuring four different players, where the program represents the Player of the Week. No other team in the HL has more than two (Cleveland State, Purdue Fort Wayne, Detroit Mercy).
3. WHAT'S ON THE HORIZON
A win against the Jaguars on Sunday will keep Green Bay within one game of Purdue Fort Wayne, who is in first place of the Horizon League. Following Sunday's contest, GB has just seven games left on the regular season docket, including a date with the Mastodons in the regular season finale on March 1 in Green Bay.
