GREEN BAY, Wis - The winning streak moves on! Green Bay women's basketball tallied its 18th straight 'W' with a 68-45 trouncing of in-state rival Milwaukee. It's the first regular-season sweep of the Panthers since the 2018-19 season.
The Phoenix (25-5, 18-1 HL) moved to 20 games over .500 behind 18 points from Maddy Schreiber. Milwaukee native Jasmine Kondrakiewicz added 12 more, Jenna Guyer added nine, and Cassie Schiltz tallied eight points. Miah Meyer, Ellie Buzzelle, and Meghan Schultz had five points apiece.
Schiltz made two three-pointers, putting herself in a tie with Natalie Berglin (2004-07) for the third-most threes in program history (192). Butler's nine assists put her in a tie with Megan Lukan (2011-15) for the third-most assists in program history (525). With her next assist, Butler will become number one in program history in assists since GB transitioned to a Division I program in 1987.
Milwaukee (8-22, 5-14 HL) was paced by Anna Lutz's 10 points. She was the only Panther to reach double figures.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Green Bay stormed out to a quick 6-0 lead before a Lutz three got MKE on the board. Moments later, Kondrakiewicz had a block before Meyer grabbed the rebound and took it the distance, extending GB's lead to 8-3 with 4:50 left in the first quarter. Green Bay had trouble getting things going during the rest of the frame, getting just a Guyer jumper and a Bailey Butler free throw. The Green and White opened the floodgates in the second period, outscoring MKE 29-6. GB went on a 17-0 in the final 6:14 of the half, culminating in a Guyer layup. Schreiber made a pair of free throws early in the frame, becoming the 41st player in program history to score 1,000 points. She was nothing short of sensational in the second quarter, racking up 13 points, including three triples. The 14 points Milwaukee scored in the first half was the fewest GB had given up in a half all season.
The Phoenix kept pressing MKE in the second half, with Schreiber pushing the lead to 28 (48-20) with 5:40 left in the third quarter. By the end of the frame, she had 18 points, while the Panthers had 27 as a team. Green Bay led by no less than 20 for the entire fourth quarter and cruised to a 68-45 victory over Milwaukee.

Green Bay is set up for a showdown against Purdue Fort Wayne next Saturday at the Kress Center. PFW plays on Sunday at 1 PM and this coming Thursday at 6 PM.
