SOFTBALL
Green Bay dropped a three-game series to the IU Indy Jaguars last weekend at King Park. On Friday, the bats came out early for both teams, with IU Indy grabbing a 2-0 lead in the top of the first before the Phoenix responded with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Green Bay's run came on an RBI double from Sidney LaMotte that scored Sara Ebner from first. The Jags responded in the third and fourth innings, putting up a run in each of them to extend their lead to 4-1. Green Bay was able to respond in a big way in the bottom of the sixth inning when pinch hitter Brooke Schwall hit her first career home run, a three-run shot to tie the game at 4. IU Indy had an answer once again, putting up a three in the top of the seventh before shutting down the Green Bay offense in the bottom half to secure the first game of the series.

Saturday's doubleheader began with a 6-4 loss, but the Phoenix had a big third inning after a bases-loaded two-RBI double from Sara Ebner tied the game. The next at-bat Sidney LaMotte brought home another run with a single through the left side to give GB a 3-2 lead heading into the fourth. That lead held until the top of the seventh when the Jaguars retook the lead with a two-run seventh off of Phoenix starter Ava Schill. GB would force extras after Kendal Herschbach drove in Marissa Destache to make it 4-4. The Jags once again had an answer late, bringing across two runs in the top of the eighth and shutting the Phoenix down in the bottom half to take the game on 6-4.

In game two, five Green Bay players recorded multiple hits to help lead the Phoenix past the Jaguars 10-4. The Phoenix put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the second inning thanks to Brooke Schwall's RBI double with one out. The Green & White offense exploded in the sixth inning with six runs to take a 10-3 lead. Jenna Redders started the scoring in the frame with an RBI double, followed by RBI hits from Sidney LaMotte, Hanson, Schwall, and Claire Coushman. Phoenix starter Paeton Kringel (2-3) gave up one run in the seventh and then shut down the IU Indy threat to secure the win. The right-hander went seven innings, giving up four runs, all of them earned, on 10 hits, allowing three walks and striking out six. A LOOK AHEAD
