HOW IT HAPPENED
It was a back and forth first half, with the Bison outshooting the Phoenix 7-3 while both teams had some great opportunities but didn't connect. At the 54:47 mark in the second half, the Bison broke the tie with a goal, then followed up less than 3-minutes later to go up 2-0. The Bison's third and final goal came in the 80th minute before Hanes connected on her first goal of the season.
Freshman
Hannah Williams was in goal for the Phoenix and finished with three saves. Hanes led the way with two shots, while six other players had shots for GB.
NEXT UP
The Phoenix will hit the road for a non-conference match against Omaha on Sunday, August 17 at 2 PM before returning home against Illinois State on Sunday, August 24 at 1 PM. The game against Illinois State will be a school supply drive for local schools, so be sure to bring pens, folders, notebooks and other school supplies for the women's soccer team to donate.
