GREEN BAY, Wis. – Saturday morning, the Green Bay Cross Country team opened their 2025 season with the Tom Barry Invite, hosted by St. Norbert at Phoenix Alumni Cross Country Course at Shorewood. For the second year in a row,
Noah Jahnke broke the meet record and won the event, while
Mason Gates took second place.
Cianna Wipperfurth paced the women's team in her first collegiate race with a sixth-place finish.

The men's team finished in the top spot with 31 points, while the women finished second behind Concordia.
MEN'S RECAP
Janke led the way nearly the entire race and cruised to a first-place finish with a time of 18:26.5. Gates crossed the line second, 7seconds ahead of the third-place finisher.
Ethan Onesti also had a top five finish for the Phoenix, while
Cameron Weiland rounded out the top 10. Green Bay ended up with seven runners finishing in the top 15. Green Bay ended with a team score of 31, 17 points ahead of second-place MSOE.
WOMEN'S RECAP
Newcomers led the way for the women's team, with their top three finishers competing in their first collegiate meet. Wipperfurth, freshman out of Waunankee, Wis. placed sixth with a time of 19:08.7. Kimberly's
Madison Lotten took home eighth with a time of 19:11.0 and another freshman
Lyla Vlcek was just outside the top 10 in 11th with a time of 19:36.6. The women finished second as a team, only 3 points out of first place and 17 points ahead of conference rivals Milwaukee.
COMING UP
The Phoenix will be back at home at the Phoenix Alumni Cross Country Course at Shorewood as they host the fourth annual Phoenix Open, starting at 11:30 a.m.
