GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Green Bay women's soccer team grabbed its first win in the Horizon League this season, beating Purdue Fort Wayne 2-1 Sunday afternoon. The game-winning goal in the 90th minute was scored by
Allison Raasch, her first of the season, from a
Hanna Arvay assist.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first half remained scoreless until each team tied the score 1-1 in the final minute. The Phoenix scored in the 45th minute off a
Hanna Arvay penalty kick to take the first lead. The Mastodons answered just a few seconds later from an unassisted goal by Bella Masse with 18 seconds left in the half. GB outshot the Mastodons with an overwhelming 10 shots to one in the first half.
The Phoenix and Mastodons' second half of play went similarly to the first half. Green Bay registered nine shots to PFW's four. Just as the game seemed to be destined for a tie, junior defender
Allison Raasch got on the end of an Arvay free kick and beat the PFW keeper to secure three points for GB.
