ABOUT THE GOLDEN GRiZZLIES
Oakland is led by first-year head coach Keisha Newell. Oakland had a 9-22 record last year and sits at 4-11 coming into Thursday's game. The Golden Grizzlies are led by Angie Smith, who averages 10.3 points per game. Smith is the only double-digit scorer on Oakland. Layla Gold leads the team in rebounding with 5.3 per game. Makenzie Luehring leads the team with 3.3 assists per game. One area the Golden Grizzlies excel in is offensive rebounding, averaging 11.4 per game, the third-most in the Horizon League.
ABOUT THE TITANS
Detroit Mercy is the middle of the pack for Horizon League standings, sitting at 4-10 and 2-3 in league play heading into their two home games against Milwaukee and Green Bay. The Titans are led by a pair of double figure scorers, with Makayla Jackson leading the way at 11.7 points per game, while Jasmine Edwards averages 11.2 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.
LAST TIME OUT
Green Bay completed the weekend sweep with a dominant 64-43 victory over Robert Morris on Sunday. The Phoenix (11-5, 6-0) had two players score in double figures, led by
Jenna Guyer, who had 19 points, which is her fifth-straight game in double figures.
Maddy Skorupski tacked on 11 points, six rebounds, and two steals.
Kristina Ouimette and
Carley Duffney each added eight points of their own.

Green Bay has been strong at home in 2025-26, starting the year 7-0. The Phoenix is 4-3 on the road and 0-2 on a neutral court.

Green Bay has been in the top five of the CollegeInsider Women's Basketball Top 25 Poll all season long. As of January 6, the Phoenix sits at #7.

Green Bay is ranked in the top 50 nationally in multiple categories. The Phoenix is 29th per game in assist/turnover ratio (1.22), 39th in assists per game (16.9), and 50th in scoring defense, allowing just 57.3 points per game.
MEG-NIFICIENT MEGHAN

Meghan Schultz has had a breakout season, and is second on the Phoeinx, scoring 12.7 points and second in rebounds at 4.8 per game. Schultz has scored in double figures in 10 of GB's 16 games.
FRESHMEN FRENZY
Phoenix freshman
Kristina Ouimette set new personal bests in the team's narrow victory over Cleveland State on Friday, scoring a career-high 14 points while also setting new highs in minutes at 29, and rebounds, pulling down five.
SKORING SKORUPSKI
Former Oakland standout and one of two Horizon League All-League player left in the league from a season ago,
Maddy Skorupski will wear the Green & White in her senior season. Skorupski is third on the team in points per game at 8.5 and second in assists per game averaging 3.8 (also second in the HL). She leads the Phoenix with 1.8 steals and is first in rebounds at 5.2.
CARLEY COMING HOME
A disciple of
Kayla Karius during their time together at South Dakota, the two-time CSC Academic All-District player of Green Bay Preble High School scored her 1,000th career collegiate point in the team's victory over Youngstown State on Dec. 7. Through 16 games, Duffney is averaging 7.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. Duffney has scored in double figures in six out of GB's 15 games.
GUYER ON FIRE
Redshirt-Senior forward
Jenna Guyer returned to the Phoenix lineup on Nov. 22 after an injury kept her out the first five games of the season. In 11 games since then, Guyer has scored in double figures nine times, including a season-high 21 points in GB's road win at Wright State last Tuesday. Guyer is first on the team, averaging 13.7 points per game and led the Phoenix in scoring in both games last weekend, scoring 15 against Cleveland State and 19 against Robert Morris. Guyer was the first Green Bay player named the Horizon League Player of the Week on Monday, averaging 17.0 points and 3.5 rebounds across three games.

After winning the Horizon League and making the NCAA Tournament in her first season as the Phoenix Head Coach
Kayla Karius will look to do the same in year two with an overhauled roster. Green Bay graduated seven seniors and 85.2% of its scoring from 2024-25. The 2025-26 Phoenix features eight newcomers, consisting of six transfers and two true freshmen. After two seasons as the head coach at South Dakota and her seasons with the Phoenix, Karius holds an all-time record of 77-40.
