DAYTON, Ohio – The Green Bay women's soccer team dropped its first game of the 2026 season, bringing the team's 10-game unbeaten streak to an end. The Raiders scored the first two goals of the night and held on late for a 2-1 win. The Phoenix is now 8-1-2 on the season and 3-1 in the Horizon League with nine points in the league table.
"I want to give credit to Wright State first and foremost," said head coach Matt Kagan. "They finished their chances, and that was the difference in the game tonight. We were on the front foot for a lot of the night and had enough good looks, but it didn't fall our way. The thing I loved is that our team never once stopped or quit, which is a character trait of our team! We will regroup, recover, and prepare for another tough match on Sunday at NKU!"
HOW IT HAPPENED
Green Bay put the pressure on in the first half, outshooting the Raiders 7-3 in the first half. However, Wright State made the most of their chances, grabbing a 1-0 lead in the 38th minute thanks to a Macy Moore goal. Mia Fiore was credited with the assist.
The second half played out similarly to the first, with GB having more chances, but the Raiders capitalized first. The hosts doubled their lead in the 59th minute when Eva Snyder assisted Taliah Pellizzari. Grace Downey scored her first goal of the season for the Phoenix in the 69th minute, but that was as close as GB would get as Wright State held on for the 2-1 win.
GAME NOTES
- Anna Scott recorded one save for the Phoenix out of eight total Raider's shots.
- Green Bay outshot WSU 17-8.
- Wright State had more chances on net, with four to GB's three.
