Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Efficient Offense Not Enough to Hold Off IU Indy

GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Green Bay volleyball team's win streak came to an end at three, as the Phoenix fell to the IU Indy Jaguars 3-2 Saturday afternoon. Green Bay won the first two sets before the Jaguars stormed back to win the last three. The loss dropped Green Bay's record to 14-7 overall, and 7-3 in Horizon League play.

The Phoenix offense was paced by Olivia Neumann, who finished with 15 kills on the day with a hitting percentage of .500. Kirsten Fish also finished with 15, and Diane Pichelman chipped in with 12 as part of a balanced Green Bay attack. Defensively, GB had three players reach double figures in digs, including Macy Kline's 21, 15 from Kennedy Schmitz, and 11 more from Kendall Schara. It is the sixth time this season Kline has finished with 20+ digs in a match. Alexa Hernandez led the Phoenix with 48 assists.

IU Indy was led by a primarily two-pronged attack, with Bailey Sinish racking up 21 kills and Jillian Tippmann racking up 18. Laura Roeder was stout defensively, leading the visitors with 30 digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 | The Phoenix won the first point and never looked back to secure the first set, 25-22. Green Bay led by as many as nine points at 14-5, which proved to be enough to close out the set one win.

SET 2 | Green Bay won the second set 25-23 to swiftly take a 2-0 lead. The Phoenix grabbed the set propelled by a strong showing on the attacking side, registering a .382 attack percentage with 16 kills. After the lead changed hands four times, the Phoenix took control for good at 22-21 and rode that advantage to victory.

SET 3 | IU Indianapolis stayed alive with a set-three win to make it a 2-1 match after a 25-20 win. IU Indy built up a 19-10 lead before the Phoenix rallied back to make it interesting, but it was too little too late as the visitors extended the match.

SET 4 | Green Bay then dropped their second straight set 25-22 to bring the match level at two sets apiece. Set four was back-and-forth, featuring nine ties and three lead changes. Neither team opened up a lead of more than three points along the way.

SET 5 | Green Bay built a 6-3 lead early, but a 5-0 IU Indy run followed by another 4-0 run proved to be the deciding factors in set five, as the Jags took it 15-10.
