MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- Marcus Hall scored a career-high 32 points, but the Green Bay men's basketball team fell to Milwaukee 75-72 on the road Sunday in the Battle of I-43. During his career day, Hall also hit 1,000 career points with the Phoenix. The Phoenix now sit in a tie for third place in the Horizon League with three games to play.
The Phoenix (15-13, 10-7) had three players score in double figures, led by Hall, who had 32 points and seven rebounds.
Preston Ruedinger added 12 points and five assists, and
C.J. O'Hara helped out with 10 points.
Milwaukee (11-16, 7-10) was led by Chandler Jackson with 23 points and six rebounds. Stevie Elam was the only other Panthers player to hit double figures with 11 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After jumping out to a 14-13 advantage, Green Bay went on a 7-0 run with 5:19 left to go in the first half, finished off by a
Vukasin Todorovic free throw to increase its lead to 21-13. The Phoenix led for the remainder of the half, as Hall made a layup with 25 seconds left in the half to give themselves a 31-25 lead going into halftime.
Green Bay kept its lead intact before going on a 6-0 run, finished off by Hall's three, to increase the lead to 59-51 with 8:32 to go in the contest. Milwaukee then asserted control, outscoring the Phoenix 24-13 the rest of the way, including a pair of Amar Augillard free throws to help seal the Panthers' win with 1.5 seconds left. The Phoenix had the throw the ball full court for a change to tie, but the ball wasn't controlled on the full-court pass.
