GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Green Bay women's soccer team and St. Thomas (Minn.) played to a 1-1 draw Thursday at Aldo Santaga Stadium, which is the second draw in a row for the Phoenix.
Green Bay moves to 3-0-2 on the season after the tie, the first time the Phoenix have been undefeated through their first five matches since the 1988 season.
"I give credit to Saint Thomas, who I thought had a very good plan and executed it well," said head coach
Matt Kagan. "I am happy with our response after giving up the goal. We generated ten Corners and unfortunately didn't put one in the back of the net. The best thing about college soccer is there's always another game right around the corner. I expect that our performance on Sunday will be up to our standard."
HOW IT HAPPENED
Despite an aggressive first half from the Phoenix, outshooting St. Thomas six shots to three and registering six corner kicks to the Tommies' one, the two played to a scoreless halftime score.
Ultimately, it would be the Tommies striking first midway into the second half when Izzy McEwan scored St. Thomas's first goal of the season, high over the head of
Anna Scott in the 65th minute to give St. Thomas the lead 1-0.

Ryann Hafenbrak in the 71st minute for Ryann's first goal of her senior season to even the score 1-1. St. Thomas' final chance ended when goalkeeper
Anna Scott fell on top of a loose ball in front of the goal to finish off the game.

The Phoenix looks to remain undefeated through six matches for the first time in team history as they begin a two-game road trip in Macomb, Ill., when they take on the Western Illinois Leathernecks in their final game in August on Sunday, Aug. 30th at 1:00 p.m.
