KALAMAZOO, Mich. -The Green Bay volleyball team could not overcome a dynamic Sycamores offense Saturday falling to Indiana State in three sets (29-31, 17-25, 18-25).
The non-conference loss dropped Green Bay to 0-2 on the season.
Gillian Koning finished with 14 kills on the day to lead the Phoenix offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .265. GB got 15 digs from Macy Kline to lead them defensively.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 | The Phoenix fell in a tight first set, losing 31-29 in a game that was tied 17 times and had nine lead changes. Green Bay had a 26-25 match point before Indiana State outscored GB 6-3 down the stretch.
SET 2 | Green Bay fell in the second set 25-17, digging a 2-0 hole in the match. GB trailed by as many as eight points as Indiana State grabbed the advantage for good at 15-14 in a set that was tied up nine times before the Sycamores took over in the second half of the frame.
SET 3 | Green Bay couldn't prolong the match and lost in set number three. The Phoenix dropped a tough set 25-18. The Phoenix led 10-8 before a 6-0 ISU run turned the set around for the Sycamores.
GAME NOTES
» Gillian Koning had a match-high 14 kills for Green Bay.
» Kirsten Fish, Olivia Neumann, and Diane Pichelman finished with three blocks each.
» Green Bay attackers were helped by a match-high 23 assists from Alexa Hernandez.
COMING UP
The Phoenix will look to bounce back and grab its first win of the season tomorrow when they take on Navy at 10 a.m.
