COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - The Green Bay volleyball team fell 3-2 (21-25, 28-30, 25-20, 25-9, 13-15) to the Austin Peay Governors Saturday at the Eblen Center.
The Phoenix offense was paced by Diane Pichelman, who finished with a season-high 18 kills on the day while accumulating a hitting percentage of .333. Olivia Neumann added a career-high 16 kills and Gillian Koning chipped in with 14 as part of a balanced Green Bay attack. Defensively, GB had three players reach double figures in digs, including Macy Kline's 15, 10 from Alexa Hernandez, and 10 more from Alexis Gardner. From the front row, Neumann contributed six blocks. Hernandez also finished with a match-high 46 assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 | The Phoenix found themselves in an early deficit, losing the first set 25-21. Austin Peay grabbed the advantage for good at 6-5 in a set that was knotted up five times before the Governors took control.
SET 2 | A 30-28 set-two loss put Green Bay in a 2-0 deficit early. The Phoenix couldn't hang on in a back-and-forth set, losing in a set that featured three lead changes and was tied 12 times. Neither team led by more than four points along the way.
SET 3 | After falling in the opening two sets, Green Bay fought back to grab the third set and make it a 2-1 match. The Phoenix won set three 25-20. Green Bay took the lead for good at 18-17 before taking seven of the last 10 points.
SET 4 | Green Bay continued their comeback, winning the fourth set 25-9 to bring the match level at two sets apiece. The Phoenix was efficient in the set, finishing with an attack percentage of .364 to Austin Peay's -0.179.
SET 5 | Green Bay dropped the fifth and final set, 15-13. The Phoenix held a 13-10 lead late before Austin Peay rattled off a five-point run to win the match.

COMING UP
The Phoenix will be back in action next weekend at the Northwestern Invitational. GB will take on LIU on Friday at 4 p.m. before taking on Virginia Tech on Saturday and Northwestern on Sunday.
