Blake Johnson joined the Green Bay Phoenix men's soccer team in August 2018, adding 18 years of experience as a head collegiate soccer coach to the program. Currently, he works with the Northeast Wisconsin (NEW) United Soccer Club.
Johnson has been with NEW United since 2004 and possesses a USSF B License as well as a United Soccer Coaches Advanced National Diploma.
Before coming to the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay, Johnson spent 16 years as the head coach at Lawrence University, from 2000-2015. During his time there, he was nominated the Conference Coach of the Year two times.
Prior to his time at Lawrence, he also spent two years as the head coach of Mt. Senario College in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, where he was the NAIA Region 3 Coach of the Year as well as Conference Coach of the Year in 1999.
Johnson also has four years of experience as an assistant coach, working as a goalkeeper coach at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine from 1994-95 and as an associate head coach with the University of Maine - Farmington from 1996-97.
A native of Columbus, Ohio, Johnson had the opportunity to teach Spanish and coach soccer at the Gould Academy in Bethel, Maine from 1986-1992.
He obtained his Master of Education degree with a concentration in Athletic Administration from Springfield College, Massachusetts in 1993 after receiving his B.S. in Health and Fitness from the same alma mater in 1986. Johnson also played collegiate soccer at the University of Wisconsin from 1979-1980.
