Head Coach Sara Kubuske tabbed Mary Bean as an assistant coach on January 25, 2023. Bean is a recent graduate of the University of Southern Indiana, and played four years on the Screaming Eagles' softball team.
She was a four-year starter on the team, a three-time Academic All-GLVC honors recipient, and received the Brother James Gaffney Distinguished Scholar Award. She started 164 games for the Screaming Eagles over her career, including all 62 games her senior season. Bean graduated from USI with a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science (Pre-Physical Therapy).
Bean attended Hoffman Estates High School, where she earned letters in basketball, softball, and volleyball. She also competed on a travel ball team, reaching the 2017 16U USA Silver Hawks National Qualifier Championship.
