Thiago Barbosa

Thiago Barbosa, entering his second season after joining the Green Bay volleyball program in 2017, helped the team reach the championship match of the Horizon League Tournament and the quarterfinals round of the 2017 Postseason NIVC. He assists in all aspects of the Phoenix volleyball program, helping in recruiting, team travel, player development and program enhancement. 
 
Before coming to GB, Barbosa was a volunteer assistant coach at West Virginia University, where he coached the Big XII conference-member Mountaineers for three years.
 
He is from Brazil, where he worked with SOGIPA’s volleyball teams. At SOGIPA, he worked for four years as an assistant coach for the U-12 to U-18 girls teams and as a strength and conditioning coach for both girls and boys youth volleyball teams. For one season, he also had the opportunity to work with a Division I men’s professional volleyball team.
 
Barbosa was also a volleyball player in Brazil both on the collegiate and professional levels. He played for the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul and the second division of the Brazilian professional league. He also played professionally in Portugal for one season.
 
Barbosa owns a Bachelor’s degree in coaching and physical education from Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul and a Master's degree in Athletic Coaching from West Virginia University.
 
He resides in Green Bay with his wife, Jana Fogaça and their daughter, Alice.
