Dr. Joanna Morrissey

Dr. Joanna Morrissey was named the Green Bay Athletics Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) in the summer of 2025.

Morrissey is an Associate Professor in the Psychology department at UWGB, and also serves as the Chair of the Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology graduate program that works closely with Phoenix Athletics.The faculty athletics representative (FAR) plays an important role in the athletics department, providing oversight of the academic integrity of the athletics program and serving as an advocate for student-athlete well-being. The NCAA requires each of its member institutions to appoint an FAR who must be on the faculty or administrative staff and may not hold a position in the athletics department
 
Dr. Morrissey's areas of expertise are the Psychosocial aspects of sport, exercise, and health. She conducts mixed methods research on how thoughts, emotions, behaviors and sociocultural factors influence sport and exercise participation and quality of life. She is also a certified mental performance consultant and personal trainer who works with sport and exercise participants in an effort to enhance optimal performance.
 
Dr. Morrissey earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the College of Saint Benedict in 2005, a Master of Science in Sport and Exercise Psychology from Ball State in 2007, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Health and Human Physiology from Iowa in 2012.
