Green Bay Posts Another Conference Shut Out

GREEN BAY, Wis. -The Green Bay men's soccer team posted their second shut-out in as many games with a 3-0 win over Cleveland State on Sunday. The shut-out was the fourth of the season for the Phoenix.

"Our team is really coming together as a whole and we're putting together a great defensive attack," said head coach Tom Poitras.

The Phoenix scored early in the contest off a corner kick from David Prochazka (Gothenburg, Sweden). Prochazka kicked the ball in from the left corner and Francois Basty (Beauzelle, France) found Tyler Rosenberg (Grafton, Wis.) with a head pass for the goal and the 1-0 lead. The goal was Rosenberg's first of the season and Prochazka's assist was his team-high eighth of the season.

During the 27th minute, JC Banks (Milwaukee, Wis.) dribbled the ball down the right side beating a Cleveland State defender and shot the ball high into the right side of the net for the 2-0 lead. Banks' team-high ninth goal of the season was celebrated with his signature back flip.

Green Bay led 2-0 at the break and during the 69th minute secured the win when Banks scored again. This time Stuart Grable (Neenah, Wis.) found Banks down the right side of the box and Banks took the shot from the top right corner for the goal. Though there was no back flip to follow up the second goal, it was Banks' season career-high tenth of the year.

In a game in which there were six yellow cards issued, Green Bay outshot Cleveland State 17-5 and 9-4 on corner kicks.

The Phoenix will enjoy the confines of Aldo Santaga Stadium again on Saturday, Oct. 10 as they will host UIC in their homecoming game at 7 p.m.

"It's great to be playing at home, especially in conference play; we just want to keep building on that," said Poitras.
