VALPARAISO, Ind. - The Green Bay women's soccer team (4-11-3,
2-4-2) was eliminated in the opening round of the 2009 Horizon League
Championships with a 2-0 loss to Valparaiso Sunday afternoon at Brown Field.
Valparaiso outshot
the Phoenix 20-7 in the contest, including 8-0 in shots on goal.
Senior midfielder Jackie Kondratko had a big day for the
Crusaders, scoring both of the match's goals. Kondratko got her team on the
board in the 10th minute from 15 yards out on a feed from freshman Luisa
Desario, and then scored in the 78th minute from 20 yards out on a shot to the
far post. The goals were her sixth and seventh of the season.
Green Bay sophomore goalkeeper Maddie Drusch (Appleton, Wis.)
made six saves and allowed both goals in 90 minutes between the posts.
Under the direction of second-year head coach Trevor Warren, the Phoenix ends its season with a 4-11-3 record (2-4-2 Horizon League).
