Quilling Returns to Action as Green Bay Wins Fourth Road Game

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The Green Bay (5-0) women's basketball team became the first team in the country to win four games on the road this season with their 88-50 win over Southeast Missouri (2-3) on Sunday.

Sophomore Hannah Quilling (Eau Claire, Wis.) returned to the starting line-up after missing the first four games with a broken finger. In her first minute and a half of play Quilling had a steal and an assist as the Phoenix jumped out to an early 9-0 lead.

"It was good to have Hannah back; we're just sharper with another point guard on the floor. Offensively we're better with her on the floor," said head coach Matt Bollant.

The Redhawks gave the Phoenix a taste of their own medicine as they scored nine straight points to cut Green Bay's lead to one with 12:47 to play in the half. But in true Green Bay fashion the Phoenix capitalized on SEMO's 19 turnovers as they scored 35 points to lead 56-32 at the break.

Julie Wojta (Mishicot, Wis.) scored a career high 14 points and had three assists in 12 minutes of play in the first half alone while Kayla Tetschlag (Sheboygan North) chipped in ten for the Phoenix.

Green Bay carried their momentum into the second half as six players scored in double figures for the Phoenix. Wojta led Green Bay in scoring with her career-high 14 while Tetschlag finished with 12. Freshman Lydia Bauer (Lake Zurich, Ill) also had a career-high 11 points while Stephanie Sension (Hopkins, Minn.) tied her career high with 10.

The Phoenix scored 42 points off SEMO's 29 turnovers as Green Bay's 88 points tied the most scored under head coach Matt Bollant's leadership.

"We take a lot of pride in our turnover margin in capitalizing off of other team's mistakes; we just need to work on playing 40 solid minutes of defense," said Bollant.

Green Bay will return to the confines of the Kress Center as they host No. 17/21 DePaul on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
