MUNCIE, Ind. - For
the first time in the history of the program the Green Bay (8-0) women's basketball
team is off to a 5-0 start on the road and their best start since joining
Division I in 1987. The Phoenix took care of Ball State (3-5) with a dominant
second-half performance in an 83-63 win.

Cardinals to turn the ball over 12 times while on the offensive side of the
ball Green Bay shot a dismal 38.7 percent from the field making 12-31 shots.
"We felt Julie and Kayla were rushed in the first half and
we really needed to get them to calm down," said head coach Matt Bollant.
With seven minutes to play in the first half, Ball State
went on a 8-0 run to build their largest lead of the half (6). With eight lead
changes in the half, freshman Adrian Ritchie (De Pere, Wis.) gave Green Bay the
33-30 lead at the break when she hit a three with 0:34 to play.
In the second half the Phoenix found the bottom of the net as
Celeste Hoewisch (Hortonville, Wis.) scored 14 in the half finishing with a
career high, leading all scorers with 23 points. In addition, Hoewisch finished with a career high nine assists. Hannah Quilling (Eau Claire,
Wis.) was dynamite with her long-range three point shooting as she was
a perfect 4-4 from beyond the arc tying her career high finishing with 12.
Heather Golden (De Pere, Wis.) and Julie Wojta (Mishicot,
Wis.) both posted 12 points for Green Bay as the Phoenix shot an impressive
79.2 percent in the second half to finish the game with 56.4 percent, "we were a lot more poised in the second half and I feel we
can be a very good team offensively when we take smart shots," said Bollant.
Green Bay will head further south to take on Evansville
(2-6) Saturday at 2 p.m.
