Bay women's basketball head coach Matt Bollant has announced the hiring of
Amberly Whitehead as the new Director of Basketball Operations.
"AJ is a
highly motivated coach with a servant's heart.
She will serve this team and community very well. I am really excited to add her to our Green
Bay family," said Bollant.
Whitehead is a 2001 graduate of Bethel College in Mishawaka,
Ind. where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Studies. Whitehead
comes to Green Bay after serving as the strength and conditioning intern at
Texas A&M University.
Prior to Texas A&M Whitehead worked as the assistant
basketball and head strength coach at Bethel College where she also played her
collegiate career from 1998-2001. During her career Whitehead was a three-time
NCCAA All-American and 2000 NCCAA Player of the Year while leading her team to
the NCCAA national title. As the 2001 Conference Player of the Year, Whitehead
led her team to its first-ever NAIA National Tournament which culminated in an
Elite Eight appearance.
Whitehead has also served time as an international staff
member for Athletes in Action in Istanbul, Turkey. Whitehead replaces Kari Flunker who has accepted a position as an assistant women's basketball coach at her alma mater Cedarville (Ohio) University.
