Whitehead Named Women's Basketball Director of Operations

May 17, 2010 - Green Bay women's basketball head coach Matt Bollant has announced the hiring of Amberly Whitehead as the new Director of Basketball Operations.

"AJ is a highly motivated coach with a servant's heart.  She will serve this team and community very well.  I am really excited to add her to our Green Bay family," said Bollant.

Whitehead is a 2001 graduate of Bethel College in Mishawaka, Ind. where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Studies. Whitehead comes to Green Bay after serving as the strength and conditioning intern at Texas A&M University.

Prior to Texas A&M Whitehead worked as the assistant basketball and head strength coach at Bethel College where she also played her collegiate career from 1998-2001. During her career Whitehead was a three-time NCCAA All-American and 2000 NCCAA Player of the Year while leading her team to the NCCAA national title. As the 2001 Conference Player of the Year, Whitehead led her team to its first-ever NAIA National Tournament which culminated in an Elite Eight appearance.

Whitehead has also served time as an international staff member for Athletes in Action in Istanbul, Turkey. Whitehead replaces Kari Flunker who has accepted a position as an assistant women's basketball coach at her alma mater Cedarville (Ohio) University.
