GREEN BAY, Wis. - Green Bay
women's soccer head coach Trevor Warren has announced the addition of Hekla
Palmadottir to his roster for the 2010 campaign. The Akranes, Iceland, native becomes
the sixth player to sign a National Letter of Intent to play for the Phoenix in
the fall.
"Hekla is a great late
addition to the program," Warren said. "She is a player with European Champions
League experience and will bring a great deal of experience in the back. I
expect her to slip immediately into the left centerback role."
Throughout her prep career,
Palmadottir saw action in 15 matches for the U17 and U19 Icelandic Youth
National teams. She also played club soccer for Akranes FC and Breidablik FC in
Kopavogur, Iceland. In her time with Breidablik FC, Palmadottir tallied 48
appearances in premium league and cup championship matches, scoring three
goals.
Palmadottir joins Anna Bellinger (Hudson, Wis.), Renee Therrien (Winnipeg, Manitoba), Anna Kouba
(Lino Lakes, Minn.), Ella Bump (River Falls, Wis.) and Ahna Logan (Roseville,
Minn.) to round out Warren's 2010 recruiting class.
