MILWAUKEE, Wis.
(GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The Green Bay
women's soccer team's 2011 season came to an end Friday night as the Phoenix
suffered a 7-0 loss to No. 15 Milwaukee (16-2-0, 8-0-0) at Engelmann Stadium.
Green Bay finishes the year with a 3-11-4 record and a 1-5-2 mark in Horizon
League play.
The Phoenix trailed just 1-0 after 64 minutes, but
Milwaukee rattled off six goals in the final 26 minutes to put the game away. Sarah
Hagen tallied three goals to lead the Panthers, scoring in the 11th, 66th, and
68th minutes.
Milwaukee outshot Green Bay 27-4 in the contest and
finished with a 17-1 advantage in shots on goal. Hagen led all players with six
shots
Friday marked the final match in the careers of
Phoenix seniors Maddie Drusch (Appleton, Wis.) and Corey Arno (Winneconne,
Wis.). Drusch finishes as the school's all-time leader in goals-against average
(1.20) and saves (386), and is second in shutouts with 16. Arno started every match (68) over the last
four seasons, scoring five goals and registering a pair of assists.
