DAYTON, Ohio (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - After a five-game winning streak which appeared to be unstoppable, the Green Bay (9-6-1, 4-3-0) men's soccer team was unable to overcome an aggressive Wright State (8-6-2, 4-2-1) offense, falling 2-1 at Alumni Field Saturday. The loss ends Green Bay's longest winning streak of the season.

"Before the game we talked about what to expect from Wright State and we dug ourselves a hole," said head coach Kris Kelderman. "At the end of the day I felt like the two goals were too easy for them."

Wright State scored two goals in a span of just over two minutes in the first half of play, both coming from the Raiders tandem of Will McAteer and Drake Stewart. In the 22nd minute McAteer found Stewart off a restart in the box for the 1-0 lead. On the second goal, McAteer found a wide open Stewart for his second goal in the 24th minute.

Less than three minutes later (27:19), senior Tony Walls (Wauwatosa, Wis.) cut the Raiders' lead in half scoring Green Bay's first goal of the game in a free kick situation. The goal was Wall's team-high sixth of the season.

Wright State allowed Green Bay just three shots in the first half of play before the Phoenix outshot the Raiders 7-5 in the second half. For the first time since Sept. 3 at Bradley, Green Bay did not have one corner kick opportunity in the game but overall battled the Raiders tough.

"At the end of the day I felt we played well, we just gave up two easy goals and we can't afford to do that," Kelderman said.

Green Bay entered Saturday's contest in third place in the Horizon League standings, looking to improve on its seed for the six-team conference championship. As fans monitor other scores from around the league, Green Bay will continue to focus on itself in preparation to host first-place Valparaiso (8-5-3, 4-0-1) Saturday in its final regular-season contest.

"I'm concentrating on our play and what we can control," said Kelderman. "I'm going into the last week with that same attitude I've had all season long and that's all I want us to think about."

Saturday, Nov. 5 the Phoenix will host the Crusaders at 1 p.m. at Aldo Santaga Stadium. Before the contest, the senior class of Walls, Tony Patterson (Menomonee Falls, Wis.), AJ Koncahr (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) and Stuart Grable (Neenah, Wis.) will be recognized for their dedication to the Green Bay men's soccer program.
