ATLANTA,
Ga. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Green Bay women's basketball senior Celeste Hoewisch (Hortonville, Wis.)
has been named to the WBCA All-Region team announced Wednesday by the WBCA.
Hoewisch is now eligible for the 2011 State Farm Coaches' All-America Team.
Hoewisch is one of five All-Region
honorees and the only player from the state of Wisconsin representing Region 6.
Four players from the Big Ten join Hoewisch as All-Region honorees including Big
Ten Player of the Year Kalisha Keane.
On Monday, March 21, the State Farm
Coaches' All-America Team selection committee will narrow the current list of
52 finalists to 40. The 40 finalists will be in the running for selection to
the 10-member State Farm Coaches' All-America Team which will be announced
Saturday, April 2 in Indianapolis during the WBCA National Convention, which is
held in conjunction with the NCAA Women's Final Four.
The Horizon League Tournament MVP,
Co-Player of the Year and Co-Defensive Player of the Year is averaging 13.6
points per game for the Phoenix, leads the team with 78 steals and is third on
the squad grabbing 3.8 boards per contest. Hoewisch led the No. 13/11 ranked
Phoenix with an average of 16.7 points per game throughout the Horizon League
Tournament.
No. 5 seed Green Bay is set to face No.
12 seed UALR (23-7) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament March 20 at 4:20
p.m. on ESPN2. In addition to Hoewisch, UALR standout Chastity Reed is also an
All-Region (Region 4) honoree for the State Farm Coaches' All-America Team.
